Alex was raised in rural South Dakota spending his younger years in Lemmon and ultimately spending much of his upbringing in Mobridge. Alex’s parents moved to Spearfish in January of 2015. He spent a summer and multiple holiday breaks away from college visiting Spearfish. Through this, he fell in love with the beauty and spirit of the Black Hills. He attended college for both undergraduate and graduate school at the University of South Dakota~ receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science before acquiring his Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. After graduation, Alex made the decision to move back to Spearfish and began working as an occupational therapist in long-term care.
Alex is a lover of all sports, everything from basketball, golf, football, softball, volleyball to pickleball. In his free time, you can find Alex playing any number of these or hiking, biking, or driving though the Black Hills and cheering on his Minnesota Vikings!
During his career, Alex has attained over 6 years of long-term care experience as caregiver, occupational therapist, and director. His training and experience in these positions has given him a holistic and distinctive approach to resident care and provided him with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each member within an effective healthcare team. Alex believes that his education, communication skills, energy, and experience make him uniquely qualified to provide exceptional leadership in coordination with the healthcare team at Sandstone Senior Living.
